What is tight-access excavation?
Tight-access excavation is earthmoving and digging work carried out using compact machinery small enough to fit through narrow gates, side gaps or restricted areas without removing fences, gates or other structures. Site Mates Australia uses mini excavators that fit through gates as narrow as 750mm and mini loaders that fit through 1080mm gates, making it possible to complete backyard and courtyard projects that standard-sized machinery can't reach.
Can you work on properties with limited machinery access, like inner suburban blocks?
Yes! This is our speciality. Our compact mini excavators and loaders are specifically chosen to access tight residential sites, including inner suburban blocks with narrow side gates, without the need to dismantle fencing or dig by hand.
Are you insured?
Yes. Site Mates Australia is fully insured for all excavation and earthmoving work we carry out.

How much does tight-access excavation cost?
Cost depends on site access, ground conditions, the scope of work and how much material needs to be removed. Because every property is different, we provide free onsite quotes rather than fixed online pricing, so you get an accurate figure based on your specific job.
How wide does a gate need to be for your machinery to fit through?
Our mini excavator fits through gates as narrow as 750mm wide, and our mini loader fits through gates as narrow as 1080mm wide. This means most standard side-access gates on residential properties can accommodate our equipment without any dismantling.
What areas does Site Mates Australia service?
Site Mates Australia services South East Queensland, including the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Logan, Redlands, Gold Coast and Toowoomba. We're based locally in the Redlands. If you're outside these areas, get in touch, as we may still be able to help depending on the job.

Do I need to be onsite for the quote?
We'll arrange a site visit with you to properly assess access, ground conditions and scope of work before quoting. This helps us give you an accurate, obligation-free quote rather than guessing from photos or descriptions alone. We're able to come over after hours or on weekends, and we can be flexible with your schedule. That's what mates are for!
